While we are certainly proud of the advanced diagnostic imaging technology that we have managed to assemble here at El Portal Imaging Center, what makes our facility special is our people. From the smiling receptionists who answer the phone, to the schedulers who work to get the appointment time that is just right for you, to the technicians who take great care to insure your comfort during your procedure, to our experienced and caring radiologists who provide your physician with timely and accurate interpretations of your tests, our focus is on you, our patient.

Steve Hansen, M.D. Dr. Hansen received his medical degree from Stanford School of Medicine in 1977 after receiving Bachelors and Masters degrees in physics. Accepted into the UC Davis Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program and graduating in 1981, he was Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology in 1982. He has also served as the Chief of Radiology and as the Chief of Staff for Mercy Medical Center, Merced. An avid pilot since 1982, Dr. Hansen also likes woodworking, boating, and music. He is married with two sons and a daughter.

Duane C. Richey, M.D. Dr. Richey has enjoyed an active radiology practice in Merced since 1979. Originally from the Midwest, he graduated from Southern Illinois Medical School in 1975, then went on to complete his Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program in 1979 at the University of California, Davis. He was Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology in 1980. Dr. Richey enjoys skiing, bicycling, and golfing. He is married and has four children.
